Enhancement of the mobile applications UNIMap

New application for creating schedule in AiS2

AiS2 TRH - Creation of schedule - Support for creating schedule using planned and omitted windows, quick placement of windows, generation of available positions, overview of collisions, …
This application allows the user to create schedule "setting up" windows i.e. through quick inclusion by selecting date and time shown in the schedule to the displayed real graphic windows outline. It is possible to display schedule sets of rooms, teachers, study groups, courses and relevant omitted windows in the process of schedule creation. Possible locations of window is determined by its collisions.

AiS2 in new design

Since the version 2.4.102.xx AiS2 dialogs have a new look that has been designed with the ambition to streamline the interface usability and ergonomics. The new design with its modern and more contemporary appearance and its minimalist approach in visual of portlet windows and drawing of icons comes with the ambition to bring the user interfaces closer to professional software. The added value of the new design is its consistency which is especially expressed in the mentioned drawing of icons that have been completely refreshed. The author of the new graphic design manual is Mgr. Svetozár Šomšák

Implementation of AiS2 on Goethe Uni Bratislava

Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice and the Goethe Uni Bratislava signed an agreement about the implementation of the Academic information system AiS2. Based on this agreement the implementation of the system has begun.

Sending data for mobile applications

We have enabled an interface for providing data about schedule, messages and study for mobile applications. With this interface we share signing in provided by Facebook through the OAuth protocol. Facebook users will be able to access their AiS2 data on their mobile device after downloading the mobile application UniApps.

Communication with the program aScAgenda.

When submitting an electronic application for I. degree and I.A II. associated degree of higher education candidates have opportunities to use electronic communication AiS2 pupil with a book aScAgenda program. In the electronic application form is accompanied by the "El. pupils'book', after which the system pressing the candidate to a page with logging, where the authentication information into power. pupils' books and also identify the schools that a given electronic book uses pupil. This link allows you to load in the form of certificates of registration marks for each grade level and, if accepted data included information on school-leaving examination and the results are shown leaving certificate courses.

Electronic application form for academic year 2011/2012

According to experiences from the previous years, the number of applicants using this feature of AiS2 is significantly increasing. Moreover, the applicants to P.J. Šafárik University can sign an application form with digital signature. The electronic certificates for applicants are provided free of charge by the Certification authority DISIG.

Workshop related to SW testing

The development team of AiS2 together with the representatives of the Testing centre of RWE IT Slovakia Košice organized a mini-workshop concerning software testing. The programme of the workshop consisted of the analysis and comparison of testing processes in both units, dissemination of knowledge and discussions about the further cooperation.

Meeting of Steering and Implementation Committee of AiS2

A regular meeting of Steering and Implementation Committee of AiS2 was held on October 7th-8th 2010 at the P.J. Šafárik University Education and Training Facilities in Danišovce. The agenda of the meeting included a presentation of a report on present state of development and implementation of AiS2 and a discussions concerning development plans for AiS2. Representatives of the universities presented their best practices related to the use of AiS2 in the study management.

Interface of AiS2 for successful applicants

In this period many of students that successively pass entrance exams to universities for the first time utilize AiS2. In terms of AiS2 they can electronically confirm their willing to start a study at the given university, send information for issuing their first Personal Identification Card, order textbooks etc. In such a way AiS2 provides an opportunity for minimization of time-consuming administrative tasks.

A support for questionnaires in AiS2

The current version of AiS2 provides a support for definition and realization of various questionnaires. They can be used for different inquiries. Particularly, according to university law they will be used for regular evaluations of the quality of education processes.

P.J. Šafárik University in Košice and the College of International Business ISM Slovakia in Prešov signed agreement concerning an implementation of Academic Information System AiS2. The College of International Business ISM Slovakia joins the list of Slovak universities using AiS2. AiS2 will be available to the students of this college even during summer term 2009/2010.

Support of extended thesis life cycle

The current version of AiS2 supports extended life cycle of theses. Universities which have implemented AiS2 can decide between using the local thesis repository integrated within AiS2 or the external thesis repository provided by the SVOP company.

New design of Application Portal of AiS2

In the version 2.3.0.x, the entrance application portal of AiS2 has been redesigned. The new portal is based on a new presentation style of AIS2 project and comprises also the identity of the university.

The new portal has several additional modifications in order to improve an accessibility of AiS2 by visually disadvantaged people. The author of the graphic design of new application portal is Svetozár Šomšák.

Penetration tests of AiS2

AiS2 was evaluated by an independent team of auditors. They learnt the goals of AiS2, studied the desired documentation, and verified the conformity of server and service configurations with the relevant standards and suggestions. They did not find any serious violation of safety standards and suggestions. The conclusion of the audit is that AiS2 satisfies the safety requirements with some suggestions. The suggested improvements will be implemented to AiS2.

Launching the new information portal AiS2

A new information portal at http://www.ais2.sk and http://www.ais2.eu was put into operation due to the growing number of users and increased interest in the product AIS2 – Academic Information System. The portal is supposed to provide comprehensive information to the general public as well as to central AIS2 administrators at the individual universities. The portal was designed by Mgr. Svetozár Šomšák (link http://www.somsak.sk/). The new AIS2 logo was for the first time presented within the portal.

AiS2 adjustments for the disabled

Several modifications of the AIS2 controls respecting the limits of disabled users have been systematically implemented in the version 2.2.18.12. The changes are primarily related to the AIS2 Entrance portal and to the basic navigation within student applications. Since the AIS2 is an extensive system, we will continue to cooperate in modifying. We cooperate with the Barrierless centre TU in Košice (http://web.tuke.sk/AC/indexbbc.html) and the Foster centre for students with sight disability UK in Bratislava (http://www.cezap.sk) in defining the nature and scope of the modifications.

Implementation of the AiS2 at Comenius University in Bratislava

The largest Slovak college – Comenius University in Bratislava, begins to employ AIS2 in the routine operation from 2.9.2009. Comenius University decided for AIS2 after years of seeking the most appropriate system. New communication interface for central database of persons of the UK as well as unified authentication system are also parts of the implementation. The first endurance test of the new system will be the registration of approximately 30 000 students to a higher year within the next three weeks. In consideration of the previous experience with operating the AIS2 and thanks to responsible preparation of both parties for this step we do not expect any extraordinary problems. The AIS2 users have access to their own information portal (http://www.uniba.sk/?id=ais).

AiS2 – Academic Information System

The Academic Information System of the UPJŠ has been developed and gradually implemented at 17 universities in Slovak Republic since 1997. Although several Slovak universities were at that time already using different versions of software products for management of teaching, only the Academic Information System of the UPJŠ spread outside the university where it was originally created under the acronym AIS and was gradually implemented on a mass scale.

However, the acronym AIS took root rapidly and started to be used as a general label for study management systems. This sometimes led to misunderstandings. Since 2007 there is a second version of the AIS available, which has been established as the AIS2. We have therefore decided to slightly modify the logo of our product and to avoid misunderstandings by consistent use of the label AiS2.
